Youth Archery Can Be Fun for the Whole Family
By Ted Lake @ 4:16 AM :: 2404 Views :: 0 Comments :: Article Rating :: Hunting - Bowhunting, Learn How to Hunt

Most people think that bow and arrows are for adults, but that isn’t always true. The young archer is growing in popularity across North America. Not only can it be great fun for the kids, but with kids and bow and arrows the whole family can enjoy the sport together.

They now make kids bows that have arrows with blunted ends. The bows are made small enough to fit the average kid. You can even buy whole packages that come with everything you need to start your child off in youth archery, with bows and arrows.

There are classes that teach youth archery lessons exclusively and family classes as well so you can enjoy the sport together.

However, bow and arrows can be dangerous. Kids aren’t the only ones that can be harmed, but even an experienced archer can be hurt if they don’t obey the safety rules. Each club or range has their own set of rules, but they are all in place for a reason.

Sometimes they have rules such as staying behind the line until everyone has shot their arrows and then they go and retrieve them together. This is an important rule, and may save you, or your child from serious injury.

Wherever you choose to shoot your bow, make sure you take the time to learn, and by extension, teach your child all of the youth archery safety rules. Kids learn by example, and it’s up to you to set that example. For an example;

a small child hunt may be perfect.

Kids should always remember to keep their arrows pointed away from themselves and others once the arrow is knocked. It’s too easy to let go of the arrow and have the arrow strike them or someone else.

Children should always learn the safety lessons first, and learn the shooting aspect afterwards. Safety is the number one concern.

They should also learn in youth archery the proper maintenance of a bow. Let them see how arrow fletching can effect their shot, or how the bowstring can fray and become fragile. If they know how to maintain their bow, they will have a greater respect for it. After all, a bow is a weapon. You can sugar coat that as much as you want, but it’s the truth.

Youth archery can be great fun as long as you understand and follow the rules. Kids will get a great deal of satisfaction from watching their archery skills improve over time, and you will be sure to enjoy watching them improve as well.
