Inland walleye fishing is closed. The inland season for walleye, pike, and musky will re-open on April 26th. Walleye fishing is open year-round in the Lower Peninsula Great Lakes, Lake St. Clair, St. Clair River, and the Detroit River. Ice conditions around the southern sections of the Lower Peninsula are starting to deteriorate and may no longer be safe. Anglers are reminded that ice shanties placed upon waters in the southern half of the Lower Peninsula should have been removed by March 1st. In all areas of the state, a shanty must be removed if ice conditions become unsafe, regardless of the date. The new 2008 fishing licenses went on sale March 1st.
