Leelanau State Park will be holding a "GO-Get Outdoors" Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22. The activities will include displays on bee keeping, fruit growing and how to make maple syrup. There will also be other agricultural and old fashioned crafts. Children will be able to make their own candles and there will be storytelling for kids with the campground hostess.
The Fox Island Lighthouse Association will kick off the event with a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser for their continuing efforts to stabilize the lighthouse and other buildings on South Fox Island. Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. until noon. Park staff is planning on making old fashioned ice cream in the afternoon and have genuine Leelanau fruit toppings for the ice cream.
Visitors also will have the opportunity to check out the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum located at Leelanau State Park. This museum is operated from noon to 4 p.m. by the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Association. This group uses the museum entrance fees to maintain the lighthouse and museum.

All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the entrance. Cost is $24 for resident annual and $6 for resident daily. A non-resident annual is $29 and a non-resident daily is $8.
