The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Divisions of Forestry and Fish and Wildlife, is sponsoring a prescribed burn workshop for private landowners on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Geneva Community Center in Geneva (Freeborn County).
Experienced DNR burn crew staff will lead the workshop. Participants will spend the morning in a classroom setting learning the basics of prescribed burning and the benefits of fire for grasslands and wildlife.They also will learn about cost-share opportunities for financing prescribed burns. Weather permitting, there will also be an opportunity to participate in a prescribed burn exercise in the afternoon.
Participants will receive a free video or DVD about prescribed burning and morning refreshments and lunch will be provided at no cost.
Class size is limited to 25 participants who must be at least 18 years of age. Appropriate clothing to participate in the prescribed burn includes leather boots, leather gloves, and denim, cotton, or canvas clothing.

From the 4-way stop in the center of town, go East one block to 1st Ave. SE, then turn South (Right). The Community Center is on the intersection of 1st Ave. SE and 4th St. SE.)
