The Unbelievable Fish Tale

I heard Al yelling for me but was unable to make out what he was saying but as I got close to the dock I heard him say “I love this lake – I got my first fish without even using a rod and reel!” So here is what happened:

Just last weekend I had the pleasure of spending some time on the water fishing with Al Anderson and my sister Tracey. We met at the Edgewild resort just a few miles from my home were they planned to spend a week vacationing. After unloading the truck and looking over the lake map Al decided it was time to unload the pontoon. This is a wonderful pontoon, has radio, bathroom, live well, depth finders and a 75 HP Honda 4 stroke motor everything you could want and more.

As it was getting close to dark we decided to just unload the pontoon and meet back at the dock. Having been on the lake a number of times I gave him directions to the resort from the landing and watched as he took off. When I got back to the resort I heard Al yelling for me but was unable to make out what he was saying but as I got close to the dock I heard him say “I love this lake – I got my first fish without even using a rod and reel!”

So here is what happened, Al was driving to the resort and had rounded a curve that leads to a channel when he heard a loud bang from the motor. Thinking that he hit a tree or rocks he turned the motor off and began to look things over. He looked all over in the water and did not see anything that could have made this noise so he decided to look at the propeller. When he raised the motor up this fish rolled from under it and was still ½ alive.
As you can see from this picture – some of the fish is missing. It seems that this monster of a northern was swimming close to the surface and got ran over by the motor cutting off a large portion of the fish.
Here is were Randy Man needs some help – from the nose to the anus measured 30 inches – what would the fishes total length had been if it had not been cut up by the motor?
My best guess is add 15 inches to make a 45 inch northern – what do you think?? Leave a comment and let my know your opinion.

Way to start your vacation on a high note – this is one we will never forget!

Enjoy the Experience!
