As I gaze out the window, I watch the beautiful snowflakes drifting down. Soundless … unique … random. I dream about an energetic snowshoe hike, and anticipate the crispy crunchy echo of my snowshoes breaking through that top crust of hardened snow to hit the soft powder beneath. But, not yet.
Today, the snowflakes are soft, blustery, and random. I contemplate the fact that each individual snowflake is different, and indeed, it is one of Mother Nature’s miracles. Today’s snow won’t accumulate to anything, but it’s enough to get me in the holiday spirit. I’m craving Christmas lights, a blazing fire, and a glass of red wine to warm my cold ears and lift my spirits.
In Duluth, Minnesota, it wouldn’t feel like the holiday season without at least a little snow. Although we aren’t in the middle of a life-halting storm, it begins. And I take notice as outside my window … soundlessly the snowflakes fly.
