Some nice perch reported caught on Blackduck. Best lakes for crappies have been Gilsted, Rabideau, Pimusche and of course, Red Lake.

The bluegills and crappies started biting on Rabideau Lake this week. Look for crappies deep, 20 to 30 feet, and the bigger sunfish in 14 to 20 feet of water. On Pimushe Lake, bluegill action also is picking up in 14 to 18 feet of water. There’s a consistent crappie bite during the evening hours on Gilstead Lake in 30 to 40 feet of water. The bigger fish have preferred minnows and glow jigs suspended several feet off bottom.

Gilsted, Pimushe and Rabideau lakes are producing bluegills and crappies. Crappies are suspended at 25 feet in about 30-35 feet of water. For panfish, try fishing in 10-15 feet of water.

The perch action has picked up on Blackduck Lake with small jigs and waxworms working best in 18 to 22 feet of water. Sunfish and crappies continue to be caught on Rabideau Lake. Look to Gilstead Lake for crappies in 25 to 35 feet of water. On Lake Pimushe, expect consistent bluegill action in 14 to 18 feet of water.

Big Lake started producing bluegills and crappies in six to eight feet of water. Look to Lake Pimushe for nice bluegills in 14 to 18 feet of water; there are some good-sized perch coming off Blackduck Lake in 18 to 20 feet of water. Gilstead Lake is a safe bet for crappies in in 25 to 30 feet of water, while bluegills and crappies continue to bite on Rabideau Lake in shallower water.

More anglers are out fishing now with the nicer weather. Red Lake is still spotty, with some anglers catching limits, others doing okay. Big jumbo perch are now biting on Blackduck. Some perch are shallow, about 6-10 feet, with most being caught in 14-20 feet. Bluegills and crappies best on Rabideau, Gilstad, Big and Moose lakes. Crappies are suspended over deep water. Look for sunfish in 8-14 feet.
