It has been the busiest season on record and I'm really enjoying this little break. I feel like I should be down south helping out some folks, but I think I will try to help out some other way (maybe sending down some goods or something). Now that we have made it to Labor Day and school is going to be in session, the lakes will be a little quieter. So you know what? It becomes more fun to fish because there is less traffic and fishing pressure. Gull has been producing many walleyes as of late. Most people I have talked with have been pleasantly surprised with both the numbers and size of the fish. North Long has been good as well for walleyes. Muskies are smacking on Mille Lacs too!! I'm sorry that I didn't have the latest and greatest info to you, but I have been just trying to keep up with all the different things going on!! We (our guides) have been fishing predominantly for walleyes on Gull, but we have been up to Whitefish and also some smaller area lakes. Lindy Rigs and redtail chubs fished in 14-36 feet of water have been the key. Although I do know at least one of our fill-in guides has been jigging them up!! We had a couple of classic stories last week. Both involved our guides and both will not be forgotten for a while. You will just have to ask Butch and Steer. You will have to keep checking out our "Hall of Fame" page on our website. I have some nice new photos that will be up one of these days. E.D. Hill was back up with her family and we caught some eyes and J.D. caught a nice last minute pike!!

As the cool weather approaches, think about ordering up one of the new Walleyedan fleece jackets or vests.

Tip of the week: Be happy with Minnesota!!

Talk to you soon,

Walleyedan

Good morning everyone. I finally got a chance to lay in bed for a little bit this morning, was that ever nice. But now it's time to get things in gear for this afternoon's trip. We were on Gull last night and despite the switch in wind (from south to north) we had good trips. My boat landed some nice fish and a number of 13 inchers. We were fishing 22-30 feet of water with Lindy Rigs and redtails. I have been using some real horses (big redtails). The little fish will still try to eat them, but the nice fish hammer them. Still haven't been jigging. Besides Gull, it sounds like North Long and Pelican are happening as well. I might have to head over to Pelican and check things out, because I think my wife and I are going to fish the Walleye Alliance tournament next weekend. Archery season opens this weekend, but I think I will be hanging tight until the "rut". It's going to be a busy fall on the water, so the thoughts of having a seat on my tree stand come Oct. 27th or so gives me a good feeling. By the way, if anyone is interested in my Triton boat please call or email.

Tip of the week: Don't forget to try crawlers, that's what the winning team at the MWT tournament caught their fish on.

Have a nice week,

Walleyedan

What a season! I know it's not over, but boy oh boy has it been a trip. Good, bad and ugly!! Lots of good, some bad and one ugly. The fishing remains good. I worked hard on Whitefish today and came up with a few walleyes, a few northerns and a few bass. We marked a lot but they weren't going crazy. It was a beautiful day, so maybe that's why. Gull has still been going and I have got word that Pelican is as well. We have been catching some on jigs, but the "rig" has been best. The walleye's in Gull, Whitefish, North Long and Pelican are being found in 17 to 40 feet depending on the conditions and time of day. I caught a 24 incher on Whitefish the other day that was about 7 pounds. It's still swimming, so maybe by the time it grows to 33 inches it will be 20 pounds!! I haven't even shot an arrow yet, so I guess I will be doing the "rut" hunt once again. Where in the heck does all the time go?

Tip of the week: Be careful what you wish for..........!

Have a good one and pray for the Vikes,
Walleyedan

Fished all day on Gull and caught some walleye's but my thoughts are on muskies. I was out last night with some regular clients from MO., and we saw some big fish. It was my best night ever and we did not boat 1 fish. I think we saw 11 fish, had 2 hits and one of the follows was by a monster (53"). Heading back tomorrow to see what might be up!! Shelley and I fished a walleye tournament on Pelican last Sunday. We caught quite a few, but needed to land a couple of our misses and we would have been up there on the board. Instead, we ended up with 4 weigh fish and finished in about the middle of the pack. We caught our fish on both jigs and rigs in about 28-31 feet. Sounds like the winning team caught theirs deep, but the majority of the fish were between 14 and 22 feet. Big fish was 6.5 pounds. Gull fish are at all different depths, find them, fish them and catch them!! The muskies we saw yesterday were in the weeds and on the rocks, tomorrow they will be in the boat. Right now I need to get in the bed, good night.

Tip of the week: Take your kids hunting or fishing!!

Just got done gorging myself with walleye, beans and cole slaw. Apple pie and ice cream too!! The walleyes were caught by myself and Mr. Bunting (Perry that is). We had about 90 minutes to catch our families a meal and we did it. The big redtails were getting scarfed down in about 17 feet of water on Gull this evening. It was fun and having the pressure to catch some for dinner made it more fun. I have had a great fall thus far. No monsters, but lots of nice fish and it seems that they are finally growing up!! Yeah!!! We have been doing best with Lindy Rigs and redtails in 15-35 feet. Both the north and south ends of Gull have been equally good. The other day (Saturday) I had a gentleman out from Greece and we put some really nice fish in the boat. We also released some nice ones. The water temperature was 57 ish tonight on the north end. I talked with the Bush crew and they did well on a number of area lakes this past weekend. So Gull isn't the only one happening, pick one and hang on to your pole!!

Tip of the week: This is the time of year to use the GIANT redtails. "Jingles" is ripe for the taking. Why not two gamefish records in the same month. Congratulations to Mark Raveling!!!
