Successful walleye opener...
Hello sportsfans... Welcome to the weekly update.

The 2005 summer walleye fishing season if officially underway. And we started the schedule with a BANG.

Our many friends from Lincoln / Omaha payed a return visit with their annual Walleye Connection Tour. With some so so weather, and overall decent May fishing conditions, it's estimated that the group landed somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 WALLEYES during their three days of angling. Nice effort!

As predicted it has been a jig and minnow affair. Four-Mile Bay... Lighthouse... And Morris... Those are your spots gang. Nothing new for the May haunts, and plenty of action.

Comparable to the past? Yes, I'd have to say so. Maybe not the trophy sized fish we're accustomed to seeing in mid-May, but certainly the numbers game that we all know and love.

Shore lunch? You bet! Our best guided charter was in by Noon Saturday for a fresh meal of walleye. Their boat had already landed 52 fish! Not too shabby for the first four hours of the season!

Hey... This is some of the better spring fishing we've had in a couple seasons. And we are EXCITED.

A special thanks to ALL those that visited and stayed here over "opening weekend". Just a great bunch of folks, and it really was a super weekend.

It's a special start to our summer season when so many familar faces are here to take part in the opener. Thank you very much.

More good fishing ahead... Yes, an entire season's worth! Life is good on Lake of the Woods...

Set the Hook!
