Walleye action has picked up with minnows on the weedlines of Brown's Bay and Wayzata Bay. Look for bass on the deep weeds with plastics. The inside weedlines are producing sunfish in six to eight feet of water. Muskie activity has picked up with mid-surface baits in Crystal Bay and Carmen's Bay. Northern pike started hitting sucker minnows on top of the weed flats.

There are some walleyes being caught on crawlers from the deep weed edge out to about 25 feet of water. Look to the bigger bays such as Brown's and Wayzata to be most productive. Sucker minnows will produce northern pike in these same areas. Muskie anglers are seeing more fish this week on the mid-depth weeds. Look for largemouth bass to hit a jig and plastic worm in thick cover. Sunfish remain shallow and active, while crappies continue to be found suspended over 18 to 22 feet of water. The early goose season started well with numerous limits harvested from the area.

Walleye activity has improved during lowlight periods of the day in Brown's Bay and Wayzata Bay. Live bait rigs and chubs or a three-way rig and Rapala has worked best in 18 to 22 feet of water. Northern pike are hitting spinners and sucker minnows in 15 to 18 feet of water. Look for bigger bass to hit plastics along deep weeds and bucktails thrown over the top of the milfoil has been the ticket for muskies.

There's some evening and early morning walleye action in the bigger bays. Look to the deep weeds or 20-foot breaks with minnows in areas such as Wayzata Bay and Brown's Bay. Northern pike, largemouth bass, and sunfish are relating to the 10- to 12-foot weed edges scattered throughout the lake. Muskie anglers are seeing and hooking more fish this week on top of the milfoil with bucktails.

A spinner and minnow rig is producing walleyes in 18 to 20 feet of water on Lake Minnetonka. The bigger bays are holding active fish, but you need to stay extremely tight to the deep weed edges. Panfish reports have been limited in recent days, but largemouth bass are biting well. Look for the remaining green weed patches to be holding the majority of bass on Minnetonka. Bucktails have been the ticket for muskies on the north side of Lake Independence.

A jig or live bait rig tipped with three-inch chubs has produced walleyes along the 18-foot weedlines of Brown’s Bay and Wayzata Bay. Northern pike are hitting spinnerbaits tipped with sucker minnows when trolled on top of the 15-foot weeds. Bass and panfish reports have been limited to small fish and duck season started very slow.

Several muskies between 48 and 52 inches were caught this week. Topwater baits are working best on top of the milfoil flats, while big blade baits have turned fish on the deep weed edges. Bass can be had on spinnerbaits in shallow water and you should find crappies over 15 to 18 feet of water in Black Lake and the North Arm. Look for walleyes during lowlight periods of the day to hit Shad Raps in the channels. You’ll hook walleyes during the day on chubs in 28 to 32 feet of water in Brown’s Bay and Excelsior Bay. Sucker minnows are producing northern pike in the channels and sunfish are being found along the 10- to 12-foot weed edges.

Walleyes are hitting minnows on the deep, outside weedlines on the north side of Brown's Bay, Brackett's Point, and Ferguson Point. Panfish action has been slow, but numbers of six- to eight-pound northern pike are being caught in the channels with sucker minnows. Work the shorelines with crankbaits or spinnerbaits for largemouth bass.
