Area walleye bite is picking up. Try Plantagenet out on the rock piles from 7-10 feet or along the west shoreline in the cabbage in 8-10 feet. Also, off the break in 20 feet producing fish, starting to move deeper with cooler weather. On Bemidji, the rock piles, Diamond Point, Grassy Island kicking out walleyes. Try trolling after dark. Cass Lake walleyes also picking up on the sand bars. Jig/minnow working, still some taking Lindy rig/crawler or leech. After dark shad raps best. Bemidji muskies consistent, Plantagenet hit and miss. Throw bucktails or crankbaits. Pike action best on Grace Lake. Bluewater Bait & Sports, Mark Cook, 1 mile north of the Hwy 2 & 71 Intersection (218-444-2248) Courtesy of Outdoors Weekly |

Walleyes are starting to snap on a jig/minnow or crawler/rig. Hit lakes Plantagenet, Cass, Winnie, Bemidji or Grace in 20 feet of water. An active jig is key, with redtails also working well. Crappies hitting up in shallows on unnamed lakes in 6-8 feet. Anglers are throwing little jigs, Berkley PowerBait. Walleyes hitting on area lakes in shallow water, but most are deeper, about 15-22 feet. Bemidji, Plantagenet and Big lakes have been best. Try a 1/8- or 1/4- ounce jig tipped with a rainbow or fathead along the breakline. Shallow in evenings, deeper during the day. Weeds dying off, so bass are moving shallow. Tullibies also coming up to the shallows. Area muskie action going well right in the reeds. Crappie bite on Andrusia is picking up.
