Muskies reported being caught on area lakes. Walleye bite is picking up on Blackduck Lake and area lakes. Panfish are biting on Gilstad and Rabideau. Red Lake anglers report catching limits of crappies this past week off the cribs near Roger’s. Red Lake pike bite is still sporadic.

Walleye action has been alright with the bite switching to minnows on jigs or rigs. Blackduck Lake and Round Lake have been two of the better producers. Start in 12 feet and work your way out to 16. Crappies on Red Lake has been day to day with a few limits reported off the cribs. Calm days bring a good northern pike bite on the same lake in 2-6 feet of water with a bucktail or small crankbait. Muskie bite improving with buzzbaits and other topwater producing fish on Cass and Bemidji Lakes.

Blackduck walleyes are hitting a jig/minnow in 12-14 feet of water. Panfish are biting on area lakes in 20-25 feet on crawlers and minnows. On Red Lake, crappies are starting to bite in the cribs and pike are biting when weather conditions cooperate.

Walleyes on Blackduck are in 12-18 feet of water. A jig tipped with a minnow, leech or crawler should do the trick. Panfish bite sporadic. Red Lake reports some 40+inch pike caught. A few crappies being caught on the cribs.

A jig and minnow combination is providing consistent walleye action on Blackduck Lake in 10 to 14 feet of water. Small minnows also are producing numbers of crappies in 15 to 20 feet of water on Gilstead Lake, South Twin Lake, and Rabideau Lake. You'll find plenty of bluegills in shallower water on these lakes as well. Anglers trolling crankbaits in the Tamarack River area of Upper Red Lake are hooking good-sized northern pike.
