The west side of Lake Reno is producing walleyes on jigs and fathead minnows in 12 to 15 feet of water. Anglers fishing from shore on Lake Emily are catching walleyes with shiner minnows and floating jigs. On Lake Minnewaska, leeches or shiner minnows on spinner rigs have been best for walleyes in 18 to 20 feet of water off the points. Panfish continue to be active.

Hottest two walleye lakes are Mary and Long (between Cyrus and Morris). Live bait working best, mostly shiners and fatheads. Try trolling with spinners on Long in 12-15 feet. Emily is best from shore on the west end with a slip sinker/shiner, let it lay on the bottom. Minnewaska walleyes in deeper water, 18-20 feet best. Work around the points with leeches or fatheads with spinners. Panfish good at the Starbuck Marina and the Fish Hatchery on the Glenwood end. Bass opener was excellent on Minnewaska, largemouth up to 5 pounds and smallies up to 4 pounds reported. Most anglers using big jumbo leeches/bobbers from shore in shallow water.

Lake Emily, Long Lake, and Lake Minnewaska are producing walleyes at a variety of depths. Minnows, crawlers, and leeches are producing fish during the evening hours. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are hitting spinnerbaits in the shallows of Lake Minnewaska.

Bass are active on area lakes. Largemouth are hitting walleye anglers’ baits in 16-18 feet. Also catching fish closer to shore, in the bulrushes with spinnerbaits. Sunnies and crappies still being caught on Minnewaska. Best spots for walleyes would be the west end of Emily, Lake Mary or Long Lake, west of Cyrus. Take along some shiner minnows and some leeches.

The bass bite has been very good on Lake Minnewaska. Smallmouth bass are hitting in 14 to 18 feet of water, while the majority of largemouth bass continue to be shallow. Lakes such as Mary, Long, and the west side of Emily are the area's best bets for walleyes. Crankbaits, minnows, or leeches have worked best. Panfish action has slowed with just a few fish coming from the Starbuck Marina and Glenwood Fish Hatchery area of Minnewaska.

Walleye activity is really heating up on Minnewaska. Try leeches or crawlers, with spinners from 12-20 feet. Work the drop-offs to locate fish. Reno has been great for walleyes using minnows, fatheads or shiners while pulling spinners in 14 feet of water. Anglers are catching walleyes on Emily using rattlin’ Raps or shallow Shad Raps. Bass are taking walleye anglers’ baits on Minnewaska. Largemouth are in shallow around the docks and in the bulrushes hitting spinnerbaits or a big leech under a bobber.

Walleye action has improved on Lake Minnewaska in 14 to 20 feet of water. Work the points and shoreline breaks with spinner rigs and crawlers. Shallow-running Shad Raps continue to fool walleyes on Lake Emily in six feet of water. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are biting very well throughout Lake Minnewaska.

Shallow-running or rattling Shad Raps continue to produce walleyes on Lake Emily in less than eight feet of water. On Lake Minnewaska, spinners and leeches have produced walleyes off the points in 15 to 20 feet. Largemouth bass on Minnewaska are relating to docks and the shallow side of the bulrushes. The majority of bigger fish are hitting spinnerbaits. Look for sunfish in eight to 10 feet of water on the outside edges of the bulrushes at Minnewaska.
