Walleye bite is starting to pick up with the water temps cooling down. Bite is best at night. Both on Reno and Minnewaska are producing fish. Fish in shallow water with floating rapalas. On Minnewaska, work off the edge of the bulrush on the north side of the lake in 5 feet. On Reno, 7-8 feet of water on the north side of the lake should kick out some fish. Sunfish are still biting and the bass action is pretty good. Minnewaska Bait, Larry Jensen, Hwy 29 near the Starbuck Marina (320-239-2239) |

Dove hunting has been good with hunters learning how to locate and pattern birds for success. Early goose success has been best west of Morris around small grain fields that have been combined. Walleyes starting the fall pattern with crankbaits off the bulrush edges in 5-6 feet of water. Reno bite has also picked up. Emily bite during the day off shore with fatheads. Sunfish have moved deeper, and a little tougher to locate but will bite if you get over the top of them. Waxies on a small jig the best bait. Shallow-running Rapalas started turning walleyes after dark on Lake Minnewaska and Reno Lake in six feet of water. Most of these fish are being taken off the edges of the bulrushes. Sunfish action has slowed and the goose opener was poor with few birds in the area. Minnewaska Bait and Tackle (320) 239-2239 |

Minnewaska sunfish size is improving in depths of 12 feet using waxworms or nightcrawlers. Perch starting to bite, with nice 8- to 10-inch fish being caught, still some sorting. Work fathead minnows on small jigs around the points. Occasional walleye mixed in. Best time for walleyes is right at dark using floating Rapalas in 5-6 feet right off the edge of the bulrush on the north side of Minnewaska. Water temps beginning to cool off. Shorefishermen starting to catch a few walleyes on Emily. Throw out a large minnow and let it sit. Minnewaska Bait, Larry Jensen, Hwy 29 near the Starbuck Marina (320-239-2239) |

Look for sunfish in 12 to 14 feet of water on Lake Minnewaska. Perch started showing up on Minnewaska, off the points in 16 to 18 feet of water. You can expect a walleye or two mixed in. The best walleye reports off Minnewaska are along the shallow bulrushes on the north side of the lake. These fish are hitting shallow-running Rapalas after dark. Anglers fishing off shore on Lake Emily started catching walleyes on fathead minnows. Minnewaska Bait and Tackle (320) 239-2239 |

Walleyes being caught on Reno and Emily taking large minnows. Bigger perch biting on Minnewaska. Work fathead minnows on small jigs around the points. Occasional walleyes mixed in. Walleyes biting at dark using floating Rapalas in 5-6 feet off the edge of the bulrush on the north side of Minnewaska. Minnewaska Bait, Larry Jensen, Hwy 29 near the Starbuck Marina (320-239-2239) |

Work the edges of the bulrushes with floating Rapalas on the north side of Lake Minnewaska for walleyes, especially after dark. There's also some walleyes being taken off the points during the day in 16 feet of water. Slip bobbers and minnows or a jig and minnow has worked best in these deep areas. Shallow-running Shad Raps are producing walleyes on Lake Emily, while night anglers are hooking walleyes on crankbaits in seven feet of water on Lake Reno.
