Walleye fishing has really slowed down. Some fishermen are going for panfish in Lake Minnewaska. You can catch lots of sunfish on the Glenwood side in 16-18 feet of water using waxworms and small jigs. You need to sort through your catch, only hand size or bigger should be kept. Crappie fishing is just starting to get underway in front of the Fish Hatchery on the Glenwood end using crappie minnows and glow jigs. Some are trying for perch, but the action is slow. Ice conditions are good, up to 14 inches of ice and some are driving.

The Glenwood end of Lake Minnewaska is producing sunfish in 16 to 18 feet of water. Small jigs and waxworms have been the ticket. This area is producing northern pike on tip-ups and sucker minnows. Fish Hatchery Bay on the Glenwood end is producing crappies at night in 15 feet of water.

Action is about the same as last week, Lake Minnewaska has been kicking out a bunch of sunfish. You will need to sort through your catch and keep the hand size or bigger. You should get your limit in about 16-18 feet of water using waxworms and small jigs. Crappie fishing has slowed up a little bit; it hasn’t been really consistent yet. The best fishing will be yet to come in late February. Walleye fishing has been slow and there is not much to report about other area lakes.
