The walleye bite has really slowed down in the Detroit Lakes area. There are a few fish being caught but you really have to work for them! Jigging spoons and minnow heads are working best along the deep weedlines and humps. The best time is right before sunset. Pelican, Big Cormorant and Lizzie are your best bets for getting a little action. The panfish bite is picking up on area lakes with sunfish, crappie, and perch providing plenty of action. Lindy Frosty Glow jigs and waxworms are turning the fish in anywhere from 10-24 feet. The best action has been the last 2-4 hours of daylight. Little Detroit, Prairie, Franklin, Cotton, Height of Land, Round, Long, Floyd, Little Cormorant, Leif and Middle Cormorant are all kicking out some panfish.

Walleye activity has slowed, but with some work you can pick up fish along the deep weedlines and humps at sunset. Look to lakes such as Pelican, Big Cormorant, and Lizzie for walleyes. Lindy Frost jigs are producing sunfish, crappies, and perch in 10 to 24 feet of water on Little Detroit Lake, Prairie Lake, Cotton Lake, Height of Land Lake, Middle Cormorant Lake, Round Lake, Long Lake, and Floyd Lake.

The walleye bite in the Detroit Lakes area is still on the sporadic side. If you are venturing out walleye fishing, the best time is right before sunset. Pelican, Big Cormorant, Lizzie, Marion, Lida, Cotton, Many Point are kicking out a few fish in 18-26 feet. Lindy Rattl’n Spoons or Rapala Jigging lures with minnow heads are taking some fish. The panfish bite continues to pick up and on some of the area lakes the bite is getting shallower. Jumbo perch are being caught on Height of Land, White Earth, Little Cormorant, Ottertail and some smaller lakes in the area. Small jigs and waxworms are working the best along and in the weeds. The sunfish and crappie bite continues to improve. Floyd, Round, Little Detroit, Prairie, Franklin, Crystal, Cotton and Big Toad are all kicking out decent amounts and sizes of fish. The snowmobile trails in Becker County are groomed and in great shape.
