I am going to be doing some car camping and was wondering how everyone organizes all their kitchen gear? I was thinking of building a box type thing that I have seen scout troups use.

I think what you are thinking of is called a patrol box. Most scout troops build there own. Here is a site with several free plans.

Redeye - wonderful information! Thank you

I have been camping for years and have found that keeping a good list and a box with most of the supplies together is helpful. I now have some plastic containers with all my camping STUFF inside - that way all I have to do is open the box - look at the list - replace anything missing or used up and go!

Hey - look forward to seeing some pictures of your camping adventures!

Well... I never got around to building a patrol box yet, but that is just what I am looking for. I may wait until my boy is old enough for scout and build one then with him. In the meantime I my just use a large plastic tub tote. That way when I want to go camping everything is ready. I think I need to get dedicated camping spices, fillet knive, kitchen supplies etc. too. I'll have to start hitting a few garage sales as they are always good sources for cheap kitchen supplies. Hey, maybe even the salvation army.
