I have pretty much given up trying to find a replacement for a bent tube on my Sportmax Trophy shelter. I am looking for a new fish house. It would be nice to have one to use for angling or spearing. The Trophy served this purpose, even though the holes were not quite as big as I would have liked. What do you all use or recommend?

Yea Hey !! Call the Liz !! I have a spear house all set up in my yard - I told him he could have it but he has a few - maybe you could come get it out of my yard !! If its cool with him - its cool with me! Just come get it soon!

I am not sure who makes the best portable but last winter I got the opportunity to fish in a newer on that was set up to fish 4. I think it was an Otter. but it was on a large sled and had a pull over fram on both sides of the sled. We only had 2 in the house - facing differtent direction - but it was WAY comfortable and quik to set up and take down. we left it hooked up to the 4 wheeler.

Hey - if anyone knows what portable I am talking about - let me know - and if you know were I could get a deal even better!!

Hey IceMan,

I have also used a clam for a number of years. You are correct that it is a decent house.

The last few years we have been using the Otter Lodge II. The square tubing has held up decently. Have had no problems with the canvas and the full size bench seat is really comfortable.

Has anyone used the new wilderness series made by Otter? They appear to be a good deal and are very light 50lbs for two man & 70lbs for 3 man. I am in the market for a new sled but am concerned that it is one of those you get what you pay for deals.

Ya Hey! frieghttrain,

 Welcome to JustNorth Outdoors

Thanks for the good information.

I know that Buck and Putter have been real happy with the Otter II Lodge. But after looking at the weight (extremely light), I think the Pro Staff might have to do some field testing.

Come back often and glad you could make it.

Update on the Otter wilderness series I had a chance to see one up close today at Canvas Craft in Anoka, I can tell you that my first thoughts were correct. The reason the house was so light is the quailty is not there. The display model I looked at had seems coming apart and it never had seen a lake yet. So I went a bought a Frabill XLTwin. I have owed the Frabill XLTriple for about 5 years and have had very good luck no issues at all. Just wanted to down size a bit and shave some weight off. I hope the new one works as well as the old one. Good luck fishing !!

I don't know if it is the best house, but I have an Otter II Magnum Lodge. Here are a few pros and cons that I have discovered:

Pros: This house is very durable. Can be used adequately for spear fishing. Plenty of room for two big guys. Sled can be used as a trailer for ATVs.

Cons: New square tubing sticks a bit. I have already went through one set. Heavy. Edges of sled or sloped which pushes seats closer together.

I have added the modification of a U bolt to the back for attaching another sled. I also use the hyfax, rigid hitch and travel cover.

Go gettum
