I awoke this early morning at 5 am knowing that I wanted to fish this morning. So quickly got my gear togethor and headed off to get some bait. 5:45 found me in the parking lot at Taber's Bait. I got out of my truck and looked at the sign on the door and it read that they didn't open till 6:30 am. I was just about to start calling around when I noticed the Open sign turn on!
I quickly went in and was welcomed and had my choice of a variety of minnows. I did not know that one could buy Emerald Shiners (from the Rainy River) in Bemidji until todays visit at Tabers. Ron informed me that they were the only bait shop in Bemidji that had Emerald Shiners for sale (FYI Emerald Shiners have much more oil/smell than a regular Golden Shiner).
I almost forgot to mention that I also bought some waxies while in the store. I was happy to see that they package them in containers that do not crush in ones pocket resulting in a pocket full of mush.
Ron was very generous in his scoop and was also helpfull with a recent fishing report.
