February 7, 2006 --OK here's the down low -- Just released today -- The CCSO (Cass County Sheriff's Office) restrictions for vehicle traffic take effect on FRIDAY. In order to discourage the large concentration of vehicle traffic vehicles will not be allowed on the ice (that includes cars and pickups) on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The restrictions will come off after Sunday.
However ATV, Snowmobile and foot traffic will be allowed. You can park on shore near the park and walk out, or hook a ride on a sled or ATV or other ice traveling vehicle.
You can still drive out on the ice and set up your fishhouse, etc until Thursday nite. After the restrictions are in effect, you can drop your fishhouse near shore and pull it out with an ATV, snowmobile, a group of buddies. Heck, set up 6 inches from shore -- most people don't fish anyway.
So encampments, set up close to the park so festival goers can visit your set-up.
Activities will take place as scheduled -- the snowmobile radar run will be on the Birch Lake track in Hackensack, 10 miles south of Walker on 371.
All Encampments are encouraged to set up as close to the park as possible. Encampments that wish to be eligible for judging and prizes need to pre-register at the weigh-in tent in Walker City Park on Friday, February 10, 2006 |
