I really enjoy the sport of spearing. I haven't made it out this year. I like the fact that I can selectively harvest. It also reminds me of sitting in a deer stand. I get the same rush when a big northers slides in like a ghost I I do when seeing a buck while on stand. Lets hear from some other people that have shared this experience.

Boy does that bring back memories of cutting ice with the old chainsaw and keeping the wood stove stoked. I haven't gone in years but would love to get out again some day. We used to crumble egg shells and drop them down the hole and the lake bottom would just magically materialize. Many good memories made in the old spear shack.

It would sure be fun to get out and try it again. If it wasn't for the fact that a certain person, that HOGEYE knows, accidentally on purpose threw my spear away.

I have a nice one that welded up that you are welcome to anytime Maybe we should hit the 3rd river flowage sometime if your interested? Would it be legal to have 2 people in one house w/ one spear and have 2 tipups outside? My Otter Lodge would work great to spear out of.

Third River Flowage is the ticket.

We have spent a lot of time there and on Dixon Lake with RandyMan and The Lizard pictured with the crappie currently on the homepage. We are not lawyers and we can not give you legal advice. But, we believe you would be legal with one guy tending the tipups and alternate sitting in the dark house.

If anyone knows the answer to HOGEYE's question, let us know.

Last year I had a DNR officer come walking up on Liz and I - Liz was spearing and I had a couple of tip ups out - I was sitting in the spear house at the time.

The DNR officer told us that it was best that I be outside watching my lines but to his knowledge there was no law stating it was illegal for me to warm up in the house Liz was spearing in.

That being said - he did ask how many spears we had and checked to see that we both had spearing lic.
