hey welcome to the forum...i fish from the bow alot....but not as much from the stern of the boat...but in minnesota we do not call it stern fishing like in iowa.

..blazin arrow...becareful bowfishing in minnesota...people up here are difficult to join in on a new sport...alot of minnesotans fish from shore...just trying to get them to use a boat as been a major transistion for our fishing industry...
one more word of caution...we string our fish along with alot of 6-lb mono instead of corded.
..just kidding ...tw

Blazzin - Glad to have you here and part of the group! Good to see someone from my home town here!! Go Dragons

It has been a few years but I have done some bow fishing for carp and suckers. Have you ever speared them? Up here in Northern Minnesota I see some folks walking the shore of creeks with long spears - looks like fun!

Well, here goes. Myself and my bowfishing tournament partner decided to head to Iowa and do a lil night bowfishing on Spirit Lake and we headed out friday afternoon at around 2:30 we got to the lake around 6 pm just enuff time to scout before dark

We fired up the fan and saw some carp movin back in the mud flats but ti was to muddy to get a good shot so we just chased em around a lil bit for fun. The sun was about to set as we went back to the landing and threw on the warm clothing for night fishing. As soon as we threw on the Generator and 2500 watts of light we could finally see the carp in the water easily. The fist fish I connected with was a 36 lb Common Carp, the 2nd a 22lb Buffalo and my buddy even managed to out do me by stickin a nice 40lb common.

This was his first bowfishing night trip and he is now totally obsessed and it's all he's been talkin about since we gat back home. We cruised around until we nearly filled a 100 gallon Water trauf full of carp, buffs and Drum. It was an awesome night.

We slept for 4 hours in the Jeep and we then headed back into the lake and I connected with a smaller common Carp and A "Personal Best" Freshwater Drum. We then headed back to the landing around noon and took a siesta and waited for the sun to go down. Well after the sun went down and We headed back to the same spot as the night before and started to fill the barrel with Drum, Buffs and more carp. 23 20lb carp hit the barrel that night and 6 drum and 10 buffs. We then quit at 1:00am and slept a good nights rest and packed up and left the happy bowfishing grounds and headed back to Litchfield for a lil R&R much needed.

As we were hauling back over 1,000lbs of  Fish the tire Blew and the wheel bearing exploded and we were stuck in the boondocks for 6 hours until a nice farmers wife let us park the boat at her house and then we came back thew next day and got the boat. Here are some pics from our lil adventuere

I use 200lb Power Pro and at night the shots are within 15feet of the boat and closer. During the day is another story, we've shot em as far as 30 yards sometimes when they are cruisin in the deeps.

Hi Workday Warrior,

Welcome to Justnorth

Lake Minnetonka had been the bowfishing lake of choice for many years. Team JustNorth is on film shoots for the next two weeks but I will get the crew thinking and see if we can come up with some bowfishing alternatives for you.

I remember, as a kid growing up in White Bear lake, we would hang out on Bald Eagle lake. It was loaded with big gar and carp.

Here is something to keep the Adrenalin pumping:
