Over the New Years weekend I was in the Big Fork area.  About and hour north of Grand Rapids.  The weekend was filled with snowmobiling and lots of fishing.  When I was fishing with my boyfriend and his brother as the sun went down, the crappies and sunny bite went crazy. On our rat finkies with crappie minnows, as soon as we dropped down our lines they would hit it.  After a while they stopped biting.  Then something wierd happened!  My boyfriends brother Eric's line when down.  It was definatly not a crappie by the fight.  He pulled up a 20 inch large mouth bass!  We were all shocked, as any one else ever caught a bass that late after the sun has gone down? 

All in all it was a great day fishing.  I caught a 24 inch pike on an 18inch rod with 2lb. test.  It was nuts!  My rod was completely bent in half, but it didn't snap!  Pretty good for a $4 rod at the ice show! 

Miss you guys, sorry I haven't posted since fall!  This past semester at school was hard!

Good to see you back in the forums Fishing-Chic. Sounds like you got into a litte hardwater action. I have never caught largemouth at night through the ice, but I have caught some of my biggest during the summer after dark. I have however, landed many pike at night after dark while ice fishing. Any pics of the bass?
