Ya Hey Getrdone, Welcome to JNO. HogEye is out on fishing expeditions but he spends a lot of time in the B.W.C.A. and knows it well. I am sure when he sees this post he will give you some info.

Getrdone, Welcome to the site. I haven't done much for trout fishing in the BWCA, but I can tell you that there are many trout lakes down the gunflint trail. Two that come to mind are Gunflint Lake and Saganaga. If you get on DNR Lakefinder and scroll around with the recreational compass, you will find many lakes that hold, lakers, rainbows, browns, brooks, splake and loopers. Wish I could offer more help. BTW some of the secluded lakes have brook trout in them and aren't even stocked. At least that is what I have heard. Good luck. If you go out of Ely I believe Basswod and Burntside have Lake Trout along with Lac La Croix. |
