| Went out to a favorite spring spot of mine with Smug, and his girlfriend Steph. We tried 1 spot with nothing but largemouth bass biting. We moved on.We checked out the next spot. That spot was very occupied. There must have 10 boats crammed in that little bay.Again we moved. The next spot we hit paydirt. We managed to boat 22 crappies and 1 bullgill. The go to jig was from C.W. Wilsons Original CrappieRocket Jigs.If you put any variation of pink on...you would catch fish, but we had to tip em' with Catch-N Tackle's Bio Bait in Larvae flavor. Here are a few pics. Smug with a largemouth..CPR'd Myself and a bullgill Smug getting the fillet table ready Our catch of the day The hot jig of the day I had tons of fun. Thanks Smug and Steph for taking me. CrappieMagnet - Them are some fine looking fish!! What depth did you find the fish in and what kind of water temp? Here in Northern Minnesota the shallows are just starting to warm with a few crappie moving in shallow on small lakes. Folks - I have had the opportunity to try the crappie jig pictured above and can say they are a KEEPER!! These jigs will help increase your odds of catching more panfish! Give them a try and tell them CrappieMagnet sent ya! Keep in touch CrappieMagnet! |

I found water temps in the low 50's.The area where we caught the fish...was 54.3 degrees. We caught these fish in less than 3 feet of water! My advice.Seek out the warmest water you can find.Look for slight differences in depths.Corners, inside and outside turns, and ledges bordering deeper water, is ideal for crappies. Also look for last years dead bullrushes, and stickups. Get out now because the crappie fishing is only going to get better! |

Due by VERY POPULAR DEMAND.....they are temporarily out of stock until further notice.However...when they get back to reality....LOL and slow down somewhat...I'll tell you all when to order.I spoke with them this morning and Chad told me he's backed way up.Sorry. |

| Nice fish magnet! What do you use for your temp gauge? I know that when in shallow water the finder would prob do a good enough job, but how about when in water deeper that say 3 or 4 feet? |

We use Lowrance for temp readings.I'm talking only surface temps.3 to 4 feet deep. Not much change there in the spring and fall times.Summer is a little trickier, where they go deeper and suspend. Rule of thumb.Springtime I almost always catch crappies on the northend of the lake. The sun heats the water temps up and where you find the warmest water, you'll likely find the other gamefish. There are lakes that have small bays on the southern part of the lakes too.Don't overlook these either, because they also can provide cover and deeper water too. |
