Randy,
That is an awesome photo! I can't wait to hear the story behid that prehistoric beast. Tell us a little about the species and where they can be found. Is that related to a paddle fish?

We should go for some Rainy River sturgeon sometime; I know some pretty good spots. In 2003 a friend of mine caught a 54" through the ice on the river. We couldn't get it up the hole it was hooked from so we pull it up tail first from a hole 4' away.... That one took an hour to get in on 6 pound test. We all took turns fighting it with our arm down the hole to prevent the line and/or rod from breaking. I have a pic that I need to get scanned of this fish. I also have some digital video of a smaller ice sturgeon caught by my good friend Pugsly that I would love to post (I'll see what I can work out).

Yea Hey

Spoonbill are paddlefish and they are a blast to fish!! My brother has a cabin by lake of the ozark - in order to catch one - you have to snag it!

The set up is pretty basic - take a VERY stiff rod with a large reel, put a 20 oz ball on the end and 3 VERY large treble hooks tied a foot apart. Drop this to the bottom of the river and troll - snag ALL day until you get one on. I know how this may sound - but it is fun to try! The meat is real good!

Mybe I will write all the info. and post later - I am sure this would be a cool trip for some one looking to try catching a fish few have!

I would love to go fishing with you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
