This weekend as I was getting ready to put the boat in the water for some late night walleye action. A man and his son walked up and asked me - "Why would anyone fish in this cold, wet, fall weather!" My answer was FAST!! 1)No bugs 2) all the weekend rec boaters are GONE! I get the lake to myself 3) The fishing is BETTER than spring fishing - YES thats right! BETTER -- LOTS BETTER!!! 4) Its just pretty!! Yea, I know --- but it is! spending time on the water this time of the year you see lots of birds on thier way south, the trees are turning color and fallin from the tree - life is good!! If you go out - try working the spring time area's backward! What I mean is - start in deeper water 25+ then work your way into the shallow waters. We got fish this past weekend starting in 18 FOW and by the time we came off the lake they were all the way up in less than 10. The best part of fishing this time of the year is the fish are comin out of cool water and for some reason that does make them taste better!! Good luck - be safe

i think fishing in the fall provides bigger fish........spring for me tends to be more fish......the lack of rec boaters is nice at the public access.....we hunt ducks ealry then fish mid morning to mid afternoon then back on the ducks........and by the way......bring your boat and your fishing attitude over to my place......tw

Would love to come up for some more boat fishing but it is not looking good - work is WAY crazy busy for me. Whats that saying - make hay when the sun is shinin - somethin like that. When I have made it out - fishin has been great! Grouse --- wel almost the same story as last year - I am getting plenty but do to the large number of ATV/Pickup hunters - walking into the bush is the best bet!!!
