Hi, I'm new here! We are big campers and are planning a 10 day camping trip for next summer. (5 days at Gooseberry Falls State Park -already have our reservations) and another 5 days on the Gunflint. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good campground? We don't like it to be too modern, flashy or commercialized (We avoid KOA's like the plague). We like clean bathrooms, lakeviews, electric hookup is nice, kid friendly, fishing, etc... Not too small and not too big. Any suggestions?

first road east off the gunflint trail is the trout lake rd.......first lake you come to kimball lake campground...like 12 dollars per night........or keep going east to the trout lake lodge.....rustic w/cabins...but oh so friendly.......or you can go up to flour lake campground.....spacial....12- 15 per night.......but very woodsy......and its popular with families...the gunflint is the motherload of camping.......fishing hiking...berry picking...canoeing...there are no koas or anything like those..on the gf trail... the sawbill trail has a spectaular campsite as well.........best of luck tw

Thanks tw! I'll check into those options. We spent some time on the Gunflint at a cabin about 10 years ago for our honeymoon. BEAUTIFUL!! Can't wait to camp there with the kids

if you get a chance.........there is the sawbill, caribou, gunflint and arrowhead trail...all spur off and into the north.......try to hit the end of each one........they all have there special surprise's,.........best of luck.....tw

My fav is the two island campground past devils track ---- Near perfect small mouth lake!
