The Friends of the Porkies will roll out the welcome mat for the Snowburst Festival from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park's Ski Hill.

An entire day of fun and competitive events are on tap and will provide an opportunity to experience the wonder of Michigan's largest state park, often called the crown jewel of Michigan's state park and recreation system. The nonprofit friends group represents all users and provides a platform for ideas to improve recreation opportunities at the Porkies.

All event times are Eastern time. Guided snowshoe hikes, a lucky chair and magic run events are scheduled at noon and 4 p.m. A snowshoe race begins at 3 p.m.; a silly slalom at 4 and a tug-of-war will be held at 5 p.m. The evening kicks off with a spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m., followed by lantern-lit cross-country skiing, a raffle and a torch-lit parade. All events are free.

For more information, please contact Tony Meneguzzo at (906) 885-5612 or Jim Bradley at (906) 884-4274.
